96  | 李晟，字良器，洮州人。年十八，事王忠嗣，從擊吐蕃悍酋，殺傷甚衆，晟挾一矢殪之，三軍讙奮，忠嗣撫背曰：「萬人敵也！」晟每與賊戰，必錦裘繡㡌，自表指顧軍前，懐光曰：「將務持重，豈宜自表暴為賊餌哉？」晟曰：「昔涇原士頗相畏服，欲令見之，奪其心耳！」後懐光軍咸陽，有異志，隂通朱泚，反迹寖露，晟懼為所并，上言當究變制備，適有使者到晟軍，晟乃令曰：「有詔徙屯」。即結陣趨東渭橋。 帝進狩梁州，顧渾瑊曰：「渭橋在賊腹中，兵孤絶，晟能辨勝邪？」瑊曰：「晟秉義挺忠，崒然不可奪，臣策必破賊」。帝乃安。時晟提孤軍，恐當二盜合以軋之，則偽致誠於懐光，乃下令曰：「見危死節，自吾之分。公等此時不誅元㓙，取富貴，非豪英也。渭橋斷賊首尾，吾欲與公戮力一心，建不世之功，可乎？」士皆泣曰：「惟公命」。於是駱元光等悉從。晟懐光懼畏，為晟所襲，乃奔河中。 帝益欲西幸，晟請駐梁、漢以繫天下。望及晟家為賊，質左右有言者，晟涕曰：「陛下安在，而暇恤家乎？」晟自東渭橋移壁光泰門以薄都城。賊將求戰，晟曰：「天誘之矣！」勒吳詵等縱兵擊之，大破之，餘黨悉降。晟引軍屯含元外廷，遣人分慰居民，秋毫無所擾露。布至，梁帝感泣，羣臣上夀，且言晟蕩夷㐫憝，市不易㕓，宗廟不振，長安之人不識旗鼔。帝曰：「天生晟，為社稷萬人，豈獨朕哉！」拜中書令，自紀其功於碑。涇州倚邊，晟因以訓耕積粟實塞下，羈制西戎。 晟每進對，謇謇有大臣節。治家嚴所言，未嘗及公事。有十五子，其聞者愿、憲、愬、聽云。 |
