25  | 余讀顧君志仁所為王武寧去思碑，為之嘆曰：王君其古之循吏耶？何其得民之深耶！或以碑所書皆為縣，常事無他，赫赫異政。嗚呼！此王君之所為不可及也。古循吏莫盛於西京之世，然考之正史，皆無劇蹟可傳，至書何武之事，謂其所至無赫赫之名，豈武為治，皆茍簡因循，無所建明，而彼所謂循吏者，豈皆無所事事耶？惟夫濬徳淵㣲，濳濡黙被，出於至誠而泯於無迹，受之者不能知，而知之者亦不能為之辭也，然則王君其真，古之循吏哉！君仕在𢎞治六年癸丒，而碑建于嘉靖二年癸未，相去三十有一年，而民思之不忘，則豈特既去思之而已哉？此又以見君之徳澤深長，而非茍焉圖塞目前之為也！為之頌曰：「巖巖武寧，維洪壯邑，帶江襟湖，民嚚以譎，有賢令君，脩正維祇，展采錯事，式貞以綏，民役孔艱，時予之毒。我度我均如垢思，沐或罹于辟維。我有訾載讁，用懲納于仁軌，繄軌之脩，範於四民。迺教迺申，迺興於文，文教攸興，亦有廥積，豈富則儲，于㐫之備，有賢令君，重食敬教，凡斯有作，去惡從好，越禩三十，民思靡忘，何以永斯？匪異伊常！考古循政，平易斯理，赫赫何為？君子攸耻？有賢令君，益逺維新，尚千百年，視此貞珉。 |
