陳徳可之父宅于臨川山之陽,阿有其先廬,既完且美矣,而以棟宇之構,迫近於山,每嵗春夏霖雨,山水衝射,疑不可乆處,乃相居宅之左,渡溪而南不半里,間得廣衍之地,而改築其地,曰垚岡平疇中,特起髙阜溪水,界其後山,無所復之,其勢之止,其氣之聚,固宜有乗其旺者,而徳可定居焉,仍以昔之名地者名其堂,而請記予,予謂地之名舊矣,而堂之名則新也,其語葢出鄉俗之所呼,其名又非圖志之所載,而予何可以妄言之也哉?請不置,則姑即其名而稽諸字書,土髙曰垚山脊曰岡。夫自廣衍之土,騰躍而上,聳抜而為岡,斯可以逺絶埃塵,頫視培塿矣!然予觀詩人所詠周雅、魯頌,皆以如岡為期望之辭,何也?岡之聳抜特起,不有似於剏造之隆者乎?岡之常永不虧,不有似於保守之堅者乎?雅之所謂單厚多益,頌之所謂黃髪台背,大率期其祿之有常年之有永也,徳可嚅嚌乎?詩書之味,馳騁乎?古今之跡,何理弗瑩?何事弗鑑也?常守其家之富,永保其身之夀,有合乎詩人之所期,則垚岡之實,吾得享而有之,豈但襲取垚岡之名也。耶垚岡者,積土之髙以成山之髙也,享有垚岡之實,而常守其富,永保其夀者,如之何亦曰不自髙而已矣。予又擬諸易象,三土之垚象,坤山脊之岡,象艮坤上艮下,其卦為謙,謙也者,慊然自卑而不自足也。夫苟慊然自卑而不自足,則惴然戒慎之心生焉,惕然省察之道行焉,凡一毫有違於禮法而能害于家者,不敢犯也。一毫有動於氣血而能損于身者,不敢肆也。何敢哆然?自恃其家之豐大,身之壯盛,而謂莫吾若哉?一謙而衆,理無不該,百事無不善,人所好也,鬼神所福也。尊而光卑而不可踰者,其唯垚岡乎?𢎞齋記:

古稱臯、陶邁種徳而後世,或借「種徳二字以嘉善人。夫古之種徳者,種之於民,後之種徳者,種之於家,種之民者,天下䝉其惠澤,種之於家者,子孫受其福報,鉅野李氏之家,素積徳其先諱,成教子孫,力穡劬書,周姻戚之貧乏而代其徭役其嗣,名珪名璧,俱克承先志,親殁數年,而兄弟同居,同財無間言,重義輕利一如其父,於是鄉之儒,特書種徳字而扁其堂,葢以其再世種徳,如嘉榖之既種,則其苗之芃芃,禾之離離,可計日而待也。李氏資用饒裕而成之,孫珪之子曰好義,治進士術漸可媒仕,其富,其貴将兼有焉,所謂種徳於家,而子孫受其福,報非邪,且種者必有穫,理固然也,雖然種之後穫之前,豈無所事哉?既種不可以不耨也,耨之當如何,亦務學而已矣!故曰義以種,學以耨,為義而不講學,猶種而弗耨也,學之當如何,亦崇徳而已,故曰:尊徳性而道問學,學外乎徳,非君子之學也,若祖若父之徳,雖自天質而出,若子若孫之徳,必自學力而充也,質之美者種於昔,學之篤者耨,今其穫也,寜不十倍,其入乎?不然,芸而滅裂,實亦滅裂,種之之種,非不嘉也,而耨之之功有弗至耳。勉哉!芸其業,韓子之言也!好義從予學,故誦斯言以勸。

京尹耶律氏,名其別墅之堂曰養正,前參江浙行省政事時,翰林承㫖趙子昻為書,其扁今京師,徵予記之,余惟養正」二字,肇自聖人傳易之辭,誦習進脩之士,有終其身,莫能究察履蹈者,尹以公侯之貴,乃能䖍揭斯名,朝夕瞻翫,其志趣之超人也卓哉!余未獲步斯堂,目斯扁,繪築構之規模,稽完成之歲月,於是演暢堂扁之義而為之記,蓋聞邪者正之反也,偏者正之偶也,事違於理之謂邪,心倚於物之謂偏,故夫正之為言,有以事言者,有以心言者,所行無邪,事之正也。所存無偏心之正也,正之名一也而正之,實有此二端焉,所養之正,其事歟?抑心歟?曰:事之無邪,為之而已,不待養也。心之無偏,苟非養之於素,養之於漸,則豈能遽至哉?養正云者,養其心也。凝然在中,不近四旁,是為心之正,喜怒憂懼,一有所偏,非正也。未正之前,不失其養,既養之後,斯得其正矣。正之所貴乎養者,何也?若地之養禾,然不可無雨露之滋也,不可無穮、蓘之勤也。若山之養材,然不可有斧斤之伐也,不可有牛羊之牧也。方其靜而無思也,主敬以直其內,及其動而有為也,不可不養之於外也,養之於外,如之何?亦在乎所行之事,一皆無邪焉爾。蓋必行無邪之事,而後可以養無偏之心也。外之無邪,與內之無偏,雖不相同,然不相悖而實相資也。凡不可以質諸天,不可以語諸人者邪?而不正之事也,於邪而不正之事不肯為,此養心之道也。養之之久,則查滓淨盡,本體渾全,正而不偏之心,又豈俟他求哉?堂之扁斯名也,固將既其實也,余言其可虛乎?庸敢述聖功之實,以諗而繫之,以箴其辭曰:心之正體,明鏡止水,未發而中,焉有所倚?下聖一等,或不能然,用而善養,體則罔偏,以義勝利,以理制欲,外行必果,內徳斯育,滓澄水淨,塵掃鏡空,不南不北,不西不東,䝉養聖切,繇此臻極,尚其朂哉!安處仁宅!
