23  | 憲府鄭萬里，名其齋居，曰宻前，翰林之屬歐陽南陽，因教授傅民善而講求宻之意，予曰：「有其名，必有其義，究其義，宜識其字。識字者，古之所謂小學也，予幼嘗學之矣，今以小學家所學而告于學，大學之人，其尚無忿字由宻，而生宀之下諧，必聲者，室之静也，山之上諧宓聲者，山之用也。宓密二字通用，故周密之密作宓而靜宓之宓亦借用洗心退藏於宓者，靜密也。幾事不宓，則害成者周密也，靜密者，心不膠擾之，謂周密者，事不疏漏之，謂二者，固宅心之要法，處事之大方而行之，不保其無弊。靜密之弊，寂滅而絶物，周密之弊，詭秘而自私密而或若是，不可也。惟中庸言密察聘義，言縝密，其義與周密之義同，以密察之密而析理，則分辨精微已精而彌精，以縝密之密而治身，則脩省詳悉已謹而彌謹，精而彌精，詩之如切如磋也，謹而彌謹，詩之如琢如磨也，此則宻之所以為宻，而大學之所以為學者，名齋之君子，倘亦有志於斯乎？ |
