23 | 憲府鄭萬里,名其齋居,曰宻前,翰林之屬歐陽南陽,因教授傅民善而講求宻之意,予曰:「有其名,必有其義,究其義,宜識其字。識字者,古之所謂小學也,予幼嘗學之矣,今以小學家所學而告于學,大學之人,其尚無忿字由宻,而生宀之下諧,必聲者,室之静也,山之上諧宓聲者,山之用也。宓密二字通用,故周密之密作宓而靜宓之宓亦借用洗心退藏於宓者,靜密也。幾事不宓,則害成者周密也,靜密者,心不膠擾之,謂周密者,事不疏漏之,謂二者,固宅心之要法,處事之大方而行之,不保其無弊。靜密之弊,寂滅而絶物,周密之弊,詭秘而自私密而或若是,不可也。惟中庸言密察聘義,言縝密,其義與周密之義同,以密察之密而析理,則分辨精微已精而彌精,以縝密之密而治身,則脩省詳悉已謹而彌謹,精而彌精,詩之如切如磋也,謹而彌謹,詩之如琢如磨也,此則宻之所以為宻,而大學之所以為學者,名齋之君子,倘亦有志於斯乎? |
