| 5 | 古今人言靜字所指不同，有淺深難易。程子言性靜者可以為學，與諸葛公言非靜無以成學」，此「靜」字稍易。夫人皆可勉而為周子言，聖人定之以中，正仁義而主靜，與莊子言萬物無足以鐃心故靜，此靜字則難，非用功聖學者未之能也。大學靜而後能安之，静正與周子、莊子所指無異。朱子以心不妄動釋之，即孟子所謂不動心也。孟子之學先窮理，知言先，集義養氣所以能不動心。大學》之教窮理知言則知止。集義，養氣則有定所以能靜也。能靜者雖應接萬變，而此心常如止水，周子所謂動而無動」是也，安則素其位而行，無入不自得之意。予《讀靜安堂銘》九十六言最喜，艮止其背，萬物之鏡」八字為其義。竊觀長沙易先生於《書》之《禹貢》，禮之《周官》，說皆精緻卓然度越諸家。而程子所續《孟子不傳之學，則有未數數然者，故予每取其所長。 |
