原糾司外內，扶直繩違」。孫綽傳》云：綽為功曹參軍。《騎曹箋》云：綱紀居管轄之任，以糾司外內駁議，弹刻誠無所拘，然亦所以獻可替否，扶直䋲違者也。　止舉大綱，不拘文法。襄陽耆舊𫝊云：習嘏，字彦文，山簡以嘏才博有文章，為征南功曹，止舉大綱而已，不拘文法，簡益器之，轉為記室參軍。　毛玠為幕府功曹，《魏志》云：毛玠為太祖幕府功曹，後轉掾。　嵇憙為撫軍功曹。《嵇憙集》云：晋武為撫軍，妙𨕖官屬，以憙為功曹。　懐祖素清介，晋中興書云：王述，字懐祖，以清介稱康宗為驍騎将軍，召補功曹。　企生多才藝，《晋書》云：羅企生，字孟子，少多才藝。殷仲堪鎮江陵，引為功曹，累遷武陵太守。　文王恱茂伯晋春秋云：向䧺字茂伯，為鎮西將軍功曹，鍾㑹既誅，雄収而𦵏之，晉王聞而召責之曰：徃者王經之死，卿哭于東市而我不問，今鍾㑹躬為叛逆，又輙収𦵏，若復相容，其如王法何！」雄曰：「昔先王掩骼埋胔，仁流朽骨，當時豈卜功罪而後𦵏哉！今王誅既加，於法已備枯骨，而捐之中野，百年之後，為仁賢之資，不亦惜乎！」王甚恱，與談宴而遣之。山簡器習嘏，《襄陽耆舊傳》見上。
