冬十月，王通弃交址，与黎利盟而还。通闻柳升败殁，益惧，更㗖利和。教利立陈暠为陈氏后，诡言实先陈王暊三世孙，今访得之。交人欲奉以为后，辄立坛，集军民官吏与利盟誓退师，因宴利遗利锦绮，利以重寳，赂通为驰上表，即引兵还沭晟。领军至水尾，闻已议和，遂引退。贼乗之，晟大败。十一月，诏赦黎利，罢交址兵，悉召文武吏士北还。鸿胪寺进黎利与柳升书、王通，使以利所奉陈暠表亦至，词畧相同，帝览之，心知其诈，然欲藉此息兵，乃以表示廷臣，命集议。张辅曰：此诈也，请益发兵讨之，臣期一年以擒贼。蹇义、夏原吉亦以为不可许。而杨士竒、杨荣知帝厌兵，且前有欲弃交址语，因力言许利便。帝意遂决，廷臣不敢复争。于是遣礼部左侍郎李琦、工部右侍郎罗汝敬等赍诏谕交址，赦除其罪，并谕利兴灭继絶意，令具陈氏后人之实以闻。勅召王通、马瑛及三司、卫、所府州县官吏，尽撤军民北还。诏未至，王通已由陆路还广西，陈智及中官马骐、山寿由水路还钦州，官吏军民得还者八万六千馀人，为贼所获及拘留者不可胜计。质实，利所奉陈暠表畧曰：安南国先臣陈日烓三世嫡孙臣陈暠煌恐，顿首上言，曩被贼臣黎季牦父子簒国，杀戮臣族殆尽，臣暠奔窜老挝，以延残息。今二十年，国人闻臣尚存，逼臣还国，欲臣陈情请命。臣仰恃天地生成大恩，谨奉表上请」。钦州，隋置，明初为钦州府，后改州，属㢘州府，今因之。李琦，元氏人。皇子生，赦。
