五載一巡守,群后德讓,貢正聲,而九族具成。雖禽獸之聲,猶悉關於律樂者,人性之所自有也。故聖王巡十有二州,觀其風俗,習其性情,因論十有二俗,定以六律五聲八音七始。著其素蔟以為八,此八伯之事也。分定於五,此五嶽之事也。五聲,天音也。八音,天化也。七始,天統也。《通鑑前編》帝舜六載引《書大傳》。又《北堂書鈔》樂,《隋書·音志誌》,《禮書》百十七,《路史·後紀》十二,《詩地理考》並節引(注)族當為奏,言諸侯貢其正聲,而天子九奏之樂乃具成也。關猶入也。入,《路史·後紀》引作統今《詩·國風》是也。案曰:此因論十有二俗下注〖五聲,宮、商、角、徵、羽也。八音,鐘、鼓、笙、磬、塤、篪、柷、敔、琴也。七始,黃鐘、林鐘、大蔟、南呂、姑洗、應鐘、蕤賓也。歌聲不應此,則去之。素猶始也,蔟猶聚也,樂音多聚以為八也。五謂塤在北方,鼓在東方之屬,天所以理陰陽也。〗注見《通鑒前編》,全引。○又《隋書·音志誌》,《禮書》百十七維五祀,定鐘石,論人聲,乃及鳥獸,咸變於前,故更著四時,推六律六呂,詢十有二變,而道宏廣。五作十道,孝力為右,秋養耆老,而春食孤子,乃浡然招樂,興於大鹿之野,執事還,歸,二年,熒然,乃作大唐之歌《通鑒前編》帝舜五載引《虞夏傳》。又《宋書·志誌》,《路史·後紀》十二有虞紀,《路史·發揮》五,《詩考》,〖(註)詢,均也。五作,五教也。十道,謂君令、臣共、父慈、子孝、兄愛、弟敬、夫和、妻柔、姑慈、婦聽者也。興,成也,樂以致天神,出地祇,致人鬼,為成也。熒猶灼也。大唐之歌,美堯之禪也。〗註見《通鑒前編》帝舜五載。○又《路史·後紀》十二引五作十道註樂曰:舟張辟雍,珝珝相從,八風回回,鳳皇喈喈。《玉海》音樂。又《六藝流別》卷一

維五祀,定鐘石,論人聲,(注)舜始欲改堯樂。乃及鳥獸,咸變於前。(註)百獸率舞之屬。秋養耆老,而春食孤子,乃氵勃然招樂,興於大鹿之野,報事還,歸,二年,熒然乃作大唐之歌。(注)熒,猶灼也。大唐之歌,美堯之禪也。歌者三年,昭然乃知乎王世,明有不世之義。《招》為賓客,而《雍》為主人。(註)《招》《雍》,皆樂章名也。賓入奏《招》,主人入奏《雍》也。始秦《肆夏》,納以《孝成》。(注)始,謂尸入時也。納,謂薦獻時也。《肆夏》《孝成》,皆樂章名。舜為賓客,而禹為主人。(注)舜既使禹攝天子之事,於祭祀避之,居賓客之位,獻酒則為亞獻也。樂正道贊曰:尚考太室之義,唐為虞賓,(注)尚考,猶言往時也。太室,明堂中央室也。義當為儀。儀,禮儀也。謂祭太室之禮,堯為舜賓也。至今衍於四海,成禹之變,垂於萬世之後。(注)衍,猶溢也,言舜之禪天下,至於今,其德業溢滿四海也。《御覽》五百七十一樂部九。又《御覽》天部八、人事部四十六,《詩考》
