20 | 《左氏》曰:「止戈為武,武非从止。凡沚芷、齒耻之類,从止「武」从「戈」,从亾从「戈」,以見「義」从「亾」以見聲。古文歌舞」之「舞」作「●」,「振」、撫之「撫」作「●」,廊廡」之「廡」作於古」,並从「亾」,「於」今並从無,而無於篆,文亦从亾,則《武》之从「亾」又何疑」焉。若曰武欲見止戈,則古之武有作「戊」者,又有作㦻者,戊之前,垂象執戈、揚盾之義。「㦻之从習,有習用干戈之義,及戊為戊巳之戊,㦻為襲敵之襲則戎事之武,專用武也。若曰武有止戈之義,又何必曰偃武乎?亾之與止,《易》得相紊,左氏所見止之訛也。《武》於六書為諧聲,武,戈類也。《武》之从亾,亦猶戰之从單,戮之从翏,戢之从咠,戣之从癸,皆聲之諧也。《禮記》曰:「祖者且也祖,非从「且」凡罝姐」之類,从「且徂祖」之類,从且祖無且義。又曰:「㓝者●也,若㓝之从井,而有●之義則□也,阱也,耕也亦可曰㓝乎?又曰:「富也者福也,若富之从畐。而有福之義則輻也,幅也,副也亦可。曰:「福乎?若曰:「角,觸也,商,章也,秋之為揫,春之為蠢,皆此類也。凡此類,是皆不識諧聲。 |
