20  | 《左氏》曰：「止戈為武，武非从止。凡沚芷、齒耻之類，从止「武」从「戈」，从亾从「戈」，以見「義」从「亾」以見聲。古文歌舞」之「舞」作「●」，「振」、撫之「撫」作「●」，廊廡」之「廡」作於古」，並从「亾」，「於」今並从無，而無於篆，文亦从亾，則《武》之从「亾」又何疑」焉。若曰武欲見止戈，則古之武有作「戊」者，又有作㦻者，戊之前，垂象執戈、揚盾之義。「㦻之从習，有習用干戈之義，及戊為戊巳之戊，㦻為襲敵之襲則戎事之武，專用武也。若曰武有止戈之義，又何必曰偃武乎？亾之與止，《易》得相紊，左氏所見止之訛也。《武》於六書為諧聲，武，戈類也。《武》之从亾，亦猶戰之从單，戮之从翏，戢之从咠，戣之从癸，皆聲之諧也。《禮記》曰：「祖者且也祖，非从「且」凡罝姐」之類，从「且徂祖」之類，从且祖無且義。又曰：「㓝者●也，若㓝之从井，而有●之義則□也，阱也，耕也亦可曰㓝乎？又曰：「富也者福也，若富之从畐。而有福之義則輻也，幅也，副也亦可。曰：「福乎？若曰：「角，觸也，商，章也，秋之為揫，春之為蠢，皆此類也。凡此類，是皆不識諧聲。 |
