黄東發先生日抄讀《延平先生集》曰:「按程門高弟如、謝上蔡、楊龜山末流,皆不免畧染禪學,惟尹和靖堅守不變。其後龜山幸三傳而得,朱文公始裒萃諸家而辨折之,程門之學,因以大明。故愚所讀先儒諸書,始於濂溪,終於文公所傳之勉齋,以究正學之終始焉。次以龜山上蔡以見其流雖異而源則同焉,又次以和靖以見源雖異,而其流有不變者焉。次以橫浦三陸,以見其源流之益別焉。然上蔡、龜山雖均為畧染禪學,而龜山傳之羅仲素,仲素傳之李延平,延平亦主澄心靜坐,乃反能救文公之㡬陷。禪學一轉為大中至正之歸,致知之學,豪釐之辨,不可不精。葢如此,故又次延平於此,以明心學,雖易流於禪,而自有心學之正者焉。此書文公所親集。延平之學,以涵養為功,夫以常在心目之間為效,驗以脫然洒落處為超詣之地。文公之問多本論語,多先孝弟,此皆學者所當熟味。序此書者,廖徳明載文公之言,謂先生𨼆不仕,燕間體察,黙而成之,非他人能及。若夫經綸天下之大經,措諸事業,時有勞逸之殊遇。故二程因發明敬字合內外,貫動靜敬。附錄云:明蔡松莊元偉《考徳錄曰,喜怒哀樂未發之中與發而中節之和是戒,懼慎獨後,養成心體如此。李延平先生是如此說,朱子章句不從其說,後來累悔不及改正,謂孤負此翁,今當以延平之說為定。
