縡先事陳主于東宮，負才使氣，人多怨之。及是，施文慶、沈客卿共譛縡受髙麗使金，陳主收縡下獄，縡于獄中上書，畧曰：夫君人者，恭事上帝，子愛下民，省嗜慾，逺謟侫，未明求衣，日旰忘食，是以澤被區宇，慶流子孫。陛下頃来酒色過度，不䖍郊廟，小人在側，宦豎㺯權，悪忠直如仇讐，視生民如草芥，後宮曵綺繡廐，馬餘菽粟，百姓流離，僵屍蔽野，貨賄公行，帑蔵損耗，神怒民怨，衆叛親離，臣恐東南王氣自斯而盡矣！陳主每當郊祀，常稱疾不行，故縡言及之。書奏，陳主大怒，頃之，意稍解，遣使謂曰：「我欲赦卿，卿能改過否？對曰：「臣心如面面可改，則心可改矣。陳主益怒，遂賜死。呉興章華好學能文，以無閥閲除大市令，鬱鬱不得志，上書極諌，畧曰：「陛下即三位于今五年，溺于嬖寵，惑于酒色，祠七廟而不出，拜妃而臨軒，老臣宿將，棄之草莽，謟佞䜛邪，升之廟廷。今疆場日戲隋軍壓境，陛下如不改弦易張，臣見麋鹿復遊于姑蘓矣！」陳主大怒，斬之 章華，字仲宗。
