鯉魚諸魚之長，謂其能化龍也、鯔腹有黄脂故名、梭肥美，如鯔河口入海處乃有之，鯽陸佃《埤雅》云：「鯽魚旅行以相即也，故謂之鯽冬。月喜偎泥，故食之補胃肉。厚子多味勝於常時黄鯝魚腸肥曰鯝，此魚腹多脂，又以色黄，故曰黄鯝，北人訛為黄骨魚，江南之石首魚即此黄鯝也，鮧一名鯷魚，古曰鰋，今曰鮕挺鮁南方曰河豚，北方曰挺鮁，去肝子及血，洗净作羮，味極美，不得其法，食之毒人，比目俗名偏口。《爾雅》：東方有比目魚焉，不比不行，其名謂之鰈。郭璞註狀：如牛脾鱗細，紫色，一眼兩片相合乃得行。今水中所在有之，江東呼為王餘魚。又段氏北户錄謂之鰜，《呉都賦》謂之魪，上林賦謂之魼，《臨海志》名婢簁魚，《臨海風土記》又名奴屩魚。《南越志》名版魚，南方異物志》名箬葉。魚《山海經》，東海有鰈魚者，即比目魚也。古之王者，将行封禪東海進貢，此魚管子亦以為封禪之瑞鰶麥黄時，始肥，八月尤美，□鯕俗作家雞魚，以肉潔白似雞，河羅形偏名。刺南方謂之勒魚鰱有黄白二色、魴以淡水為佳，故曰必河之魴海魴次之、鰻無鱗而條長，脂美有白青二種，鱓似鰻而差小，色黄，以缸貯水畜之，夜照以燈，昻首水面者，乃蛇所化，非鱓也、鮎頭大尾小身，滑無鱗而口甚巨鱧又名烏鯉魚，身有七星，夜朝北斗然。池內畜之必食，衆魚殆盡，白鰷形小而羣聚南方謂之銀魚，即杜詩所謂白小也。亦名麫條魚，白鯶青色者曰青鯶，八帶魚《山海經》謂之八則魚，烏則魚又曰明府。《山海經》云：「腹蔵水如墨」龜古用以卜，今則用以入藥鼈離為鼈，以其剛在外也、螺類不一，惟螄、螺田螺可食、蟹名類不一，大小别之蚌大曰蚌，小曰蛤蝦有河、湖、海各種，味稍有辨。
