| 14 | 柳子為御史，主祀事，將䄍進，有司以問䄍之說，則曰：合百神於南郊以為嵗報者也。先有事必質于戶部。戶部之詞曰：旱于某，水于某，蟲蝗于某，癘疫于某，則黜其方守之神不及以祭。余嘗學禮，蓋思而得之，則曰順成之方，其䄍乃通。記郊特牲篇句。若是古矣！繼而歎曰：「神之貌乎！吾不得而見也！祭之饗乎？吾不可得而知也。是其誕漫●怳，童云：誕音但，徒旦切，漫謨官切，又莫半切。僘，齒兩切。怳，許往切。㝠㝠焉不可執取者。夫聖人之為心也，一本，無心也字。必有道而已矣，非於神也。蓋于人也，以其誕漫●怳㝠㝠焉，不可執取，而猶誅削若此，況其貌言動作之塊然者乎？是設乎彼而戒乎此者也，其㫖大矣。或曰：若子之言，則旱乎水乎蟲蝗乎癘疫乎？未有黜其吏者而神黜焉，而曰蓋于人者，何也？予曰：若子之云，旱乎水乎？蟲蝗乎？癘疫乎？豈人為之耶？故其黜在神。暴乎，眊乎，沓貪乎罷弱乎！眊，莫報切。罷，音疲。非神為之也，故其罰在人。今夫在人之道，則吾不知也，不明斯之道而存乎古之數，其名則存，而教之實則隠，「而」，一本作其。以為非聖人之意，故歎而云也。曰：然則致雨反風，蝗不為災，虎負子而趨劉昆、宋均等是非人之為則何以？」余曰：子欲知其以乎？所謂偶然者，信矣。劉昆云：偶然耳。必若人之為，則十年九潦，八年七旱者，莊子秋水萹。獨何如人哉！其黜之也，茍明乎教之道，雖去古之數可矣。反是，則誕漫之說勝，而名實之事䘮亦足悲乎！ |
