玄宗時。詔所在功臣烈士貞女孝婦。令立祠祀之。江州有張安者。性落拓不羇。有時獨醉,高歌市中,人或笑之,則益甚,以至于手舞足蹈,終不愧恥。時或冠帶潔淨,懷刺謁官吏,自稱浮生子。後忽無疾而終,家人既葬之。每至夜,其魂即謁州牧,求立祠廟。言詞慷慨,不生存。時李玄為牧,氣直不信妖妄。及累聞左右啟白,遂朝服而坐,召問之,其魂隨召而至。玄問曰。爾已死,何能復化如人。言詞朗然,求見於余,得何道致此。必須先言,余即與爾議祠宇之事。其魂曰。大凡人之靈,無以尚之。物之妖怪,雖竊有靈。則雲與泥矣。夫人禀天地和會之氣,方能成形。故人面負五嶽四瀆之相,頭象天之圓,足象地之方。自有智可以料萬事,自有勇可以敵百惡,又那無死後之靈耶。況浮生子生之日,不以生為生;死之日,不以死為死。其生也既於衆。其死也亦於衆生。於今日聞使君之明。遇天子之恩,若不求一祠,則後人笑浮生子不及前代死者婦人女子也。幸詳而念之。設若廟食自使君也,使浮生子死且貴於生,又足以見人間貪生惡死之非也。州牧曰。天子立前代之功臣烈士孝女貞婦之祠者。示勸戒,欲後人倣效之。苟立祠於爾。不知以何使後人倣效耶。魂曰。浮生子無功無孝無貞可紀也。使君殊不知達人之道,高尚於功烈孝貞也。州牧無以屈,命私立祠焉。出《瀟湘錄》
