The righteousness of the son of heaven demands that he makes a pure selection of the methods of heaven and earth, and observes former sages. The righteousness of the Shi and the common people demands that they respect their parents and be upright towards the ruler. Thus, even if the ruler is brilliant, lacking any teaching in advance by the Shi will not enable any usage. |
