篤公劉、Of generous devotion to the people was duke Liu,
逝彼百泉、He went there to [the place of] the hundred springs,
瞻彼溥原。And saw [around him] the wide plain.
迺陟南岡、He ascended the ridge on the south,
乃覯于京。And looked at a large [level] height,
京師之野、A height affording space for multitudes.
于時處處、Here was room to dwell in;
于時廬旅、Here might booths be built for strangers;
于時言言、Here he told out his mind;
于時語語。Here he entered on deliberations.
