臨衝閑閑、The engines of onfall and assault were gently plied,
崇墉言言。Against the walls of Chong high and great;
執訊連連、Captives for the question were brought in one after another;
攸馘安安。' The left ears [of the slain] were taken leisurely.
是類是禡、He sacrificed to God, and to the Father of war,
是致是附。Thus seeking to induce submission;
四方以無悔。And throughout the kingdom none dared to insult him.
臨衝茀茀、The engines of onfall and assault were vigorously plied,
崇墉仡仡。Against the walls of Chong very strong;
是伐是肆、He attacked it, and let loose all his forces;
是絕是忽。He extinguished [its sacrifices], and made an end of its existence;
四方以無拂。And throughout the kingdom none dared to oppose him.'
