周宗既滅、The honoured House of Zhou is [nearly] extinguished,
靡所止戾。And there is no means of stopping or settling [the troubles].
正大夫離居、The Heads of the officers have left their places,
莫知我勩。And no one knows my toil.
三事大夫、The three high ministers, and [other] great officers,
莫肯夙夜。Are unwilling [to attend to their duties] early and late.
邦君諸侯、The lords of the various States,
莫肯朝夕。Are unwilling [to appear at court] morning and evening.
庶曰式臧、If indeed he would turn to good, -
覆出為惡。But on the contrary he proceeds to [greater] evil.
