(Minimising the light)
將欲歙之，When one is about to take an inspiration,
必固張之； he is sure to make a (previous) expiration;
將欲弱之， when he is going to weaken another,
必固強之； he will first strengthen him;
將欲廢之， when he is going to overthrow another,
必固興之； he will first have raised him up;
將欲奪之， when he is going to despoil another,
必固與之。 he will first have made gifts to him:
是謂微明。- this is called 'Hiding the light (of his procedure).'
柔弱勝剛強。The soft overcomes the hard; and the weak the strong.
魚不可脫於淵，Fishes should not be taken from the deep;
國之利器不可以示人。 instruments for the profit of a state should not be shown to the people.
