唯天下至聖，It is only he, possessed of all sagely qualities that can exist under heaven,
為能聰明睿知，who shows himself quick in apprehension, clear in discernment, of far-reaching intelligence, and all-embracing knowledge,
足以有臨也； fitted to exercise rule;
寬裕溫柔，magnanimous, generous, benign, and mild,
足以有容也； fitted to exercise forbearance;
發強剛毅，impulsive, energetic, firm, and enduring,
足以有執也； fitted to maintain a firm hold;
齊莊中正，self-adjusted, grave, never swerving from the Mean, and correct,
足以有敬也； fitted to command reverence;
文理密察，accomplished, distinctive, concentrative, and searching,
足以有別也。 fitted to exercise discrimination.
溥博淵泉，All-embracing is he and vast, deep and active as a fountain,
而時出之。 sending forth in their due season his virtues.
溥博如天，All-embracing and vast, he is like Heaven.
淵泉如淵。Deep and active as a fountain, he is like the abyss.
見而民莫不敬，He is seen, and the people all reverence him;
言而民莫不信，he speaks, and the people all believe him;
行而民莫不說。he acts, and the people all are pleased with him.
是以聲名洋溢乎中國， Therefore his fame overspreads the Middle Kingdom,
施及蠻貊； and extends to all barbarous tribes.
舟車所至， Wherever ships and carriages reach;
人力所通， wherever the strength of man penetrates;
天之所覆，wherever the heavens overshadow
地之所載， and the earth sustains;
日月所照， wherever the sun and moon shine;
霜露所隊； wherever frosts and dews fall:
凡有血氣者，-all who have blood and breath
莫不尊親， unfeignedly honor and love him.
故曰配天。Hence it is said, "He is the equal of Heaven."
