儒家 -> 禮記 -> 中庸 -> 15

子曰：The Master said,
「射有似乎君子， "In archery we have something like the way of the superior man.
失諸正鵠， When the archer misses the center of the target,
反求諸其身。 he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.
君子之道，The way of the superior man
辟如行遠必自邇，may be compared to what takes place in traveling, when to go to a distance we must first traverse the space that is near,
辟如登高必自卑。and in ascending a height, when we must begin from the lower ground.
《詩》曰： It is said in the Book of Poetry,
『妻子好合，"Happy union with wife and children
如鼓瑟琴； is like the music of lutes and harps.
兄弟既翕， When there is concord among brethren,
和樂且耽。 the harmony is delightful and enduring.
宜爾室家， Thus may you regulate your family,
樂爾妻帑。』」 and enjoy the pleasure of your wife and children."
子曰： The Master said,
「父母其順矣乎！」"In such a state of things, parents have entire complacence!"
