| 《·》: | 此與彼同類，世有彼而不自非也，墨者有此而非之，無他故5焉，所謂內膠外閉與心毋空乎？ |
| This and those are of the same kind; the world have those and don't oppose themselves, [yet] we Mohists have this and they oppose us. There can be no other reason than that they are stopped up within and closed without; their heart-minds are all filled in! |
| 《·》: | 子曰：「學而時習之，不亦說乎？」 |
| The Master said, "Is it not pleasant to learn with a constant perseverance and application?" |
| 《·》: | 王曰：「叟不遠千里而來，亦將有以利吾國乎？」 |
| The king said, 'Venerable sir, since you have not counted it far to come here, a distance of a thousand li, may I presume that you are provided with counsels to profit my kingdom?' |
| 《·》: | 而我猶代子，吾將為名乎？ |
| If I in these circumstances take your place, shall I not be doing so for the sake of the name? |
| 《·》: | 吾言厎可行乎？ |
| Are my words sound, and can they be put in force? |
| 《·》: | 今人而無禮，雖能言，不亦禽獸之心乎？ |
| Here now is a man who observes no rules of propriety; is not his heart that of a beast? |
| 《》: | 天地之間，其猶橐籥乎？ |
| May not the space between heaven and earth be compared to a bellows? |
| 《·》: | 多算勝，少算不勝，而況於無算乎？ |
| Thus do many calculations lead to victory, and few calculations to defeat: how much more no calculation at all! |
| 《·》: | 汝知之乎？ |
| Do you know what it was? |
| 《·》: | 嚚訟可乎？ |
| He is insincere and quarrelsome - can he do? |
| 《·》: | 豫，順以動，故天地如之，而況建侯行師乎？ |
| In this condition we have docile obedience employing movement (for its purposes), and therefore it is so as between heaven and earth; - how much more will it be so (among men) in 'the setting up of feudal princes and putting the hosts in motion!' |
| 《·》: | 公曰：「清商固最悲乎？」 |
| 《·》: | 張天下以為之籠，因江海以為罟，又何亡魚失鳥之有乎？ |
| 《·》: | 楚人遺弓，楚人得之，又何求乎？ |
| 《·》: | 妄人者，門庭之間，猶可誣欺也，而況於千世之上乎？ |
| 《》: | 寡人有弟，不能和協，而使餬其口於四方，其況能久有許乎？ |
