Water is called 'the pure cleanser;' spirits, 'the clear cup;' millet, 'the fragrant mass;' the large-grained millet, 'the fragrant (grain);' the sacrificial millet, 'the bright grain;' paddy, 'the admirable vegetable;' scallions, 'the rich roots;' salt, 'the saline, briny substance;' jade, 'the admirable jade;' and silks, 'the exact silks.'
論衡·率性》:世稱子路無恆之庸人,未入孔門時,戴雞佩,勇猛無禮。
'Who is generally reported to have been a common and unsteady individual. Before he became Confucius' pupil, he wore a feather hat and a pig skin belt. He was brutal and unmannerly.
墨子·非攻上》:至攘人犬豕雞者,其不義又甚入人園圃竊桃李。
As to seizing dogs, pigs, chickens, and young pigs from another, it is even more unrighteous than to steal peaches and plums from his orchard.
莊子·人間世》:故解之以牛之白顙者,與之亢鼻者,與人有痔病者,不可以適河。
