1  | 日本國在東海之東，古稱倭奴國，或云惡其舊名，故改名日本，以其國近日所出也。其土疆所至與國王世系及物產風俗，見宋史本傳。日本為國，去中土殊遠，又隔大海，自後漢歷魏、晉、宋、隋皆來貢。唐永徽、顯慶、長安、開元、天寶、上元、貞元、元和、開成中，並遣使入朝。宋雍熙元年，日本僧奝然，與其徒五六人浮海而至，奉職貢，并獻銅器十餘事。奝然善隸書，不通華言。問其風土，但書以對，云其國中有五經書及佛經、白居易集七十卷。奝然還後，以國人來者曰滕木吉，以僧來者曰寂照。寂照識文字，繕寫甚妙。至熙寧以後，連貢方物，其來者皆僧也。 |
