《卷一百四》

南京吏部尚書魏驥字仲房，蕭山人。致仕。初，驥為吏部侍郎，端慎勁直。王振方陵虐公卿，獨嚴重驥稱先生。尋調南京，進尚書。至是，以請老至京。大學士陳循，驥門生也，請間曰：「公雖位冡宰，未嘗立朝，願少待事，在循輩而已」。驥正色曰：「君為輔臣，當為天下進賢才，不得私一座主」。退語人曰：「渠以朝廷事如一已事，祗為私謀，安得善終」。竟致仕去。驥家居二十年，布衣糲食，不殖生産。事兄教諭騏，雖□益恭教子弟，力田以理學朂後進。時戴笠行田間，過錢塘主簿，𨽻呵之，對曰：「魏驥復叱之曰：「蕭山魏驥」。簿倉皇謝驥慰而遣之。後至成化中，驥年九十有八。朝廷以御史梁昉言，遣行人存問，賜羊酒，命未至而驥已卒，賜祭𦵏如禮，諡文靖。其子寛以驥遺言詣闕辭營𦵏，乞以其金振飢民。詔曰：「驥臨終遺命，猶恐勞民，可謂純臣矣。其如所請」。
