5  | 《李習之文集》中，有《皇祖實錄》一篇，《四庫提要》斥其謬妄。以為「實錄」二字，歷代天府所用，豈私家所能擬例，此言是也。然不特此也，士君子作文行事，寧卑無尊，寧謙無妄，自是正理。例如聖人之「聖」字，非孔子及四配，不足以當之，十哲不敢僭也。彭芸楣侍郎元瑞以「知聖道」三字名齋，殊為謬妄。「夫子之言性與天道，不可得而聞也。」子貢親炙聖人，深知其艱，故有此語，聖道豈易知乎！巨鹿楊思聖字猶龍，會稽姚啟聖子憂庵，漢軍楊鍾羲號聖遺，太原女士張學聖字古誠。長洲朱仲我孝廉孔彰，自號聖和老人，又以「聖相」稱曾文正公，見於自撰《咸豐以來功臣別傳》中。皆以聖自期，又妄以許人，亦豈另有說耶？孝廉精於小學，豈「聖」字有別解，可以盡人用之？即另有別解，用之亦嫌謬妄。其失禮僭分，與李習之正同，聲木故牽連記之於此。 |
