王孫蘭，字畹仲，無錫人。崇禎四年進士。累遷成都知府。蜀宗人虐民，民相聚，將焚內江王第。孫蘭撫諭之，乃解。父擾，服闋，起官紹興，修荒政。遷廣東副使，分巡南雄、韶州二府。連州瑤賊為亂，馳剿，三戰皆捷。十六年，張獻忠大亂湖南，湖南之郴州宜章與韶接壤。孫蘭乞援督府，不應，最後以七百人至，一宿復調去。及賊陷衡州，肆屠戮。韶所轄樂昌、乳源、仁化，逋竄一空。連州守將先據城叛，韶士民聞之，空城逃，而賊所設偽官傳檄將至。孫蘭仰天歎曰：「失封疆當死，賊陷城又當死，吾盍先死乎！」遂自縊。既死，賊竟不至，朝廷憫其忠，予贈恤。
