章袞字汝明，臨川人。幼孤，苦勵學不懈。嘉靖壬午，以詩魁鄉試。癸未登進士第，授御史，提督南畿學政。袞為人狷介，及是，習蹶，興諸請。　行立自樹端、嚴矩、範士 ，無何言事，左遷建寧推官，稍遷松江同知。諸生相從，講學者衆，乃授以《學庸口義》於傳註外，多所發明。累進陜西提學副使，陳乞休致，不俟報即行。所著章。子●言、詩文凡若干巻。
