秦紘，字世纓，單人。景泰中，舉進士，任監察御史。劾中官採辦，謫驛丞，陞雄縣令。以禁革中官捕獵被誣，幾不免，邑民數千人訴登聞得寛宥。調陜西谷縣令。日與將官講兵法料敵情，凡六載。知葭州，調秦州，以艱歸，秦民日哭留奏。保仍任秦州，累遷至都御史，提督宣府。凡與敵十戰，以全制勝，遷戶部侍郎。以忤時貴，降廣西㕘政，尋陞戸部尚書。紘正直剛方，節槩凜凛，為時名臣。卒，諡襄毅，祀鄉賢祠。
