延陵季子墓字世傳仲尼書,今入《淳化官帖》中。其字如書簡牘,不類豐碑石柱上所刻也。書亦少異於籀文,疑當吳季子時書文宜盡從籀,又夫子未嘗至吴,其書是非不可攷也。唐人刻此十字,籀字極大,不知一書而傳於世者,大小不同,何哉廣川書跋?《張燕公謝碑額表》云:「孔篆吴札之墳,秦存展季之壠」。言孔子篆者始見於此王應麟困學紀聞延陵季子十字碑》人,謂孔子書其文曰:「嗚呼,有吳延陵君子之墓」。按古法帖止云:嗚呼,有吳君子而已。篆法敦古可信。今此碑妄増延陵之墓」四字,除「之」字外三字,是漢人方篆不與前六字合。又且音君子字作季子,漢器蜀郡洗郡字半爿,正與此碑君字同,蓋用此法也。以季字音君字顯見其謬。比干墓有漢人篆碑,亦有此說,洪氏《隸釋》及《漢隸字源》辨之甚明矣吾衍學古編京口有十字碑,世傳為孔子書曰:「嗚呼有吳延陵季子之墓,而季字作蜀。予攷篆文皆無之,得曾敀元豐中編《潤州類集》乃曰:君子之墓後,湖居士李仲殊《題季子廟詩,亦曰溪邊君子墓,始悟為君字,非季字也。六一先生謂古以竹簡書今字濶盈尺,必非孔子作。然古法帖有魯司㓂仲尼書僅十有三字,內有有吳君子之五字,與此碑字畫如一。或者後人衍此題墓上,要知夫子蓋嘗為是書爾劉昌詩蘆浦筆記
