19  | 延祐初，謙居東陽八華山，學者翕然從之。寻开門講學，遠而幽、冀、齐、魯，近而荆、扬、吴、越，皆不惮百舍来受業焉。其教人也，至誠谆悉，內外殚盡，嘗曰：「己有知，使人亦知之，岂不快哉！」或有所問难，而词不能自达，則為之言其所欲言，而解其所惑。讨論講貫，终日不倦，摄其粗疏，入于密微。聞者方倾耳听受，而其出愈真切。惰者作之，锐者抑之，拘者开之，放者约之。及門之士，著錄者千餘人，随其材分，咸有所得。然獨不以科舉之文授人，曰：「此義、利之所由分也。」谦笃于孝友，有绝人之行。其处世不胶于古，不流于俗。不出里闾者四十年，四方之士，以不及門為耻，缙绅先生之過其鄉邦者，必即其家存問焉。或访以典禮政事，谦觀其會通，而為之折衷，聞者無不厌服。 |
