37  | 世俗商賈所祀黑虎玄壇，稱趙大元帥，其實非也。神姓陳氏，初當捕役。相傳捕役至穿窬家，類皆奉如貴官。陳一日至穿窬某甲家，時已二鼓，甲慮無以款客，家惟蓄一牝雞，因與妻謀，詰旦將伸一臠之敬，時抱卵方鷧。陳夜聞母雞作人言，訓其子曰：「吾命明日合休，素受主人豢養恩，鼎鑊所不敢辭；惟念爾曹尚在哺乳，未免不能忘懷！此後爾曹須自慎重，無事在家，勿妄出門，恐鷹抓狸攫，致罹非命，切記切記！勿似我在日有所恃也！」諸雛一一諾之，聲甚悽楚。陳聞而憫之。明發將行，甲再三堅留不可，並戒毋得殺雞，千萬叮嚀而別。陳由此頓大悔悟，聞某寺長老高行，往求皈依。長老察其意誠，因與陳約：必忍餓七日，勺水不咽，並將各甕水擔滿，方許摩頂。陳謹受教。寺中僧眾數百人，各甕水不下百石，陳既餓七日，將荷扁丈出而擔水，忽見寺門外來一黑虎，眈眈相視，陳叱曰：「我一切皆空，豈畏咥者！俟擔水畢，施汝一齋可也。」虎果掉頭去。陳擔水畢，出門將供虎食，但見黑虎復來，帖耳搖尾，馴若犬馬，不似前其欲逐逐。陳異之，因祝曰：「豈天賜我坐騎乎？」虎頷之。陳乃橫杖跨虎而去。世所塑像手持金鞭，即扁杖也。 |
